Mrs Mandy Bailey

I first became a Governor 4 years ago as I was interested in contributing to school life on top of my normal day job in Selwood.  I enjoyed my term and have been able to recently start a second term.

Being a Governor gives me the opportunity to be involved in the vast amount of work and decision making that goes into running a school.  As I am a Staff Governor my role within the school is as an HLTA for literacy.  This involves working with individuals and groups to help raise their ability and achievement in this vital subject.  I have been able to use my skills from industry as a former Buyer in my school role through my working knowledge of literacy.

Mrs Helen Atkins

I have been a Parent Governor for 3 years and have worked closely with all the Governors, particularly the Resources Committee.  My background is in Special Education, working with the field of Autism.  I have now retired, leaving my assistant Head role after 17 years.  I am a true advocate for young people and the growth of their individual potential, striving to improve each aspect of their life, and with working with Selwood Academy staff and governors, I can see how each person’s visions is enabled and supported to flourish.

Mrs Clare Cardnell

I have been a Community Governor at Selwood academy since 2007.  I am currently on the Resources Committee and represent the Academy in current MAT consultations.

As Chair of Governors from 2007 – 2017, I oversaw the transfer to Academy status in 2011, and became a Trustee and Director of the Academy Trust.  I led the school through three Ofsted inspections, including the most recent short inspection which assessed the school as good.

I have an educational background having previously taught Maths in Warwickshire and Lancashire. I have 3 sons who have all attended Frome schools, and having lived in the town for 30 years know the area and the other FLP schools very well.

I firmly believe in the value of Education for all pupils, respecting the individual needs of every child attending Selwood.

Mr Chris Bailey-Green

Brief Biography (preferable)

I have lived in Frome for almost 30 years and my daughters both went to school in Frome.  I became a community governor in early 2013 and shortly after became the Chair of the Resources Committee, which allowed me to bring my expertise in finance management and logistics to bear within the governor context.  I became Chair of Governors in September 2017 and very much enjoy being involved not only in governor duties, but also in the day to day activities of the academy.  In addition to being a governor, I am a member of the Lions Club of Frome, Frome Park Bowls Club and Frome Bridge Club.
