Selwood Academy as a Church School

Vision

We are committed to creating a safe, happy and enriching environment where we all aspire to thrive, achieve and celebrate success together.
Our aim is to promote the dignity and well-being of every child and staff member and ensure they flourish in the course of their journey with us.

Values

Our vision and ethos of the school is based on the sermon on the mount Matthew 5:16.  Our core Christian values of Hope, Wisdom, Community and Joy underpin all that we strive to achieve  to enable our ‘light to shine before others’ so that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven

Our School

Selwood Academy is an Anglican/Methodist Middle School. We are proud of our Christian Foundation which is rooted in our involvement with our local Anglican & Methodist Churches and other denominations within the Frome area. Everyone within our school community, all faiths or none, endeavour to live out our Vision Statement ’Let your Light Shine' (Matthew 5:16) which echoes the Mission of both the Anglican & Methodist Churches of loving God & loving our neighbour.

We encapsulate our vision statement through the bible story ‘The Good Samaritan’ and we use this story to teach the children to live their lives in the best way possible and to ‘Let their Light Shine’ daily through being kind, thoughtful, truthful, working hard, nurturing their skills and encouraging others to do the same.

We inspire young minds by living out our Christian values every day. We serve the families of our local community and together we, as John Wesley the founder of Methodism encouraged, seek to 'Watch over one another in love'. And in so doing, we trust that all our pupils will grow & flourish to reach their full potential in every area of their lives both now and in the future.

Please take a look at our video of how our wonderful pupils ‘Let their Light Shine’ and live out our vision in everyday life at Selwood Academy.
