Admissions Procedure for Selwood Academy

Admission arrangements of all mainstream academies & free schools must comply with the School admissions code.  Places will be allocated in line with the Academy policy.

Appeals

Applicants whose school place application is turned down have the legal right to appeal against the decision to refuse admission. Details concerning how to appeal are explained in the decision letters sent out when a place is refused and in the following link: https://www.somerset.gov.uk/education-and-families/

The National Offer day for secondary education is 1 March 2022.  Appeals need to be received by 29 March 2022.  Please see this link for further information:

Oversubscriptions

If the school is oversubscribed the criteria detailed in the Academy’s Admission Policy will be used to decide which children have priority for places.

In-year Admissions

Selwood Academy are responsible for any in-year admission applications.  If you wish to apply for a place at Selwood Academy:

  • Download and complete the County Application Form from the link provided.

  • Contact Reception at Selwood Academy for information on current spaces available within the School on 01373 462798 or selwoodacademy@educ.somerset.gov.uk.

  • Arrange tour of School.

The Trust Board authorises the Headteacher to act on its behalf with regard to in-year school admissions.
